We take our commitment to safeguarding the environment in which we operate seriously, and recently we joined a group of volunteers to remove marine debris from the beaches of Curtis Island, helping to protect the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

In all, we collected more than 163 kilograms of marine debris, helping to preserve Queensland’s second largest Island for generations to come.

The marine debris collected from these events are removed, sorted, and then entered into the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) Database.

This data is then used to assist in identifying the source of the marine debris and to develop strategies that prevent it from occurring in the future.

Santos GLNG is proud to continue supporting these important beach clean-ups and is passionate about giving back to the community in which we operate in.
